- Who The Apostles of Jesus Are -

The Apostles of Jesus, was the first religious missionary order of priests and brothers to be founded in Africa. Founded by Bishop Sixtus Mazzoldi, MCCJ and Rev. John Marengoni, MCCJ in Moroto, Uganda, East Africa, on August 22, 1968, the order soon spread to Kenya, Tanzania, the Sudan and to other parts of Africa, Europe, Australia and the United States.  They achieve this by not only ministering in immediate needy areas, but by also providing a future for tomorrow: 

• Reaching out with the Gospel worldwide
• Building seminaries, formation houses and schools
• Establishing Health Centers to continue the healing mission of Jesus
• Farming to feed the hungry
• Caring for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS

In 2008, the Apostles of Jesus celebrated their fortieth anniversary of missions with the theme, " I will be with you always " (Matt. 28:20).  These were the words Jesus said to His Apostles as He commissioned them to carry on His mission. Today, as we look forward to the golden jubilee celebration in 2018, the Apostles of Jesus continue the mission of Jesus Christ by serving God and His people, "so that they may have life and have it in abundance" (Jn. 10:10). The Apostles of Jesus Missionary Priests and Brothers are currently serving around the world in various ministries. In the United States alone, the Apostles assist in helping where there are shortage of priests and in other ministries in over 20 States across the United States - serving in hospitals, schools, parishes and other social services.

Our Community is worldwide and follows the wisdom of  Pope John Paul II, who said, "Aim at being missionaries in your own turn, not only in this country, where the Gospel is still awaited, but outside, and in particular in other African countries", an expanded version of what his predecessor, Pope Paul VI said in Kampala, Uganda, in 1968 "Now you Africans are missionaries to yourselves."
